At our platform, we unveil the documentary series 'Generation Cannabis' during the Vitoria Festival.

In the heart of Spain, a documentary series titled "Generation Cannabis" is making waves, shedding light on the profound effects of cannabis use among young people. The series, presented at the FesTVal in Vitoria, is now available on the website Play.

The Hagedorn family, bravely sharing their experiences with cannabis abuse, are at the forefront of this powerful narrative. The series provides an unflinching look at the devastating impact of cannabis on family bonds, with addiction wearing down trust and creating a painful rift between parents and children.

"Generation Cannabis" also highlights the psychiatric consequences of cannabis use. Psychiatrist José María Fabregas, a specialist in the treatment of addictions, discusses the disconnection from the world, verbal aggression, school failure, psychotic episodes, and future substance consumption that can stem from cannabis use.

The series does not shy away from addressing hash as a gateway to other drugs, leading to poly-drug use. It's a sobering reminder of the dangers that lurk in the shadows of casual cannabis use.

The series comes at a crucial time, with 22% of adolescents between 14 and 18 years old consuming cannabis. Alarmingly, 70% of these adolescents believe that hash is less dangerous than tobacco and alcohol.

Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia, describes "Generation Cannabis" as "necessary" and "well-received by the audience". The series aims to open the eyes of those who don't see or don't want to see the impact of cannabis use on young people.

In recent decades, the concentration of THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, has increased from 1 or 5% to 30%. This escalation has led to more severe and unpredictable manifestations, including a fivefold increase in the risk of developing psychosis.

The "Generation..." series does not stop at cannabis. Upcoming documentaries include "Generation Porn", exploring the influence of the pornography industry on the sexual lives of new generations, and "Generation Click", revealing the dangers and challenges young people face on the internet.

"Genderless", a two-episode documentary series, is already available, exploring gender identity through different testimonies and from the perspective of diversity and tolerance.

Urbana Gil, director of the Area of Society and Culture of TVE, expressed satisfaction with the project's alignment with the website's public service motto. With these documentaries, Play is providing tools to combat the problem of cannabis consumption among young people, fostering a more informed and empowered society.
