Authorities apprehended two individuals and commenced a manhunt for the female purchaser of counterfeit jewelry.
In a recent development, a jewelry sale observed by civilian police officers in Lünen's Viktoriastraße, Dortmund, on Saturday, June 28th, has led to the arrest of two individuals. The time of the arrest was around 5 PM.
The suspects, a 48-year-old driver and a 46-year-old passenger, both Romanian nationals with no fixed address in Germany, were taken into custody. The driver attempted to flee, running two red lights, but was eventually stopped by the police.
The jewelry sale was suspected to involve fraudulent activities, and multiple criminal proceedings have been initiated, including fraud and illegal street racing. Following a €750 bond, the suspects were released after their arrest.
The identity of the jewelry buyer, a woman approximately 50 years old and slim, remains unknown. The police are asking the buyer to contact Dortmund's Criminal Investigation Unit at 0231/132-7441.
During the search of the car, police seized two counterfeit mobile phones and a small amount of cash from the jewelry sale. Be cautious with street sales as they often involve fake gold. Real gold has specific properties, such as density and a hallmark indicating purity.
Police advise buying gold only from trustworthy sellers who provide certificates of authenticity and guarantees. Avoid cash payments to unknown sellers and have the gold tested by a professional or jeweler before making a purchase.
