In the district of Borken, a concerning trend of excessive speeding has been reported, with drivers disregarding the speed limits on various roads. The highest speed recorded over the permitted limit was on the L 574 in Heek, where a driver was caught driving an alarming 144 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. Other high violations included 115 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Burloer Straße in Borken and 66 km/h in a 30 km/h zone on Vennstraße in Gronau-Epe.

These excessive speeds are not just a minor infraction; they are among the main causes of accidents in Circular Borken, often leading to severe consequences for innocent bystanders. Particularly serious excess speeds were recorded at North Circle - inner city with 69 km/h on Vennstraße in Gronau-Epe (instead of 30 km/h), South Circle - inner city with 99 km/h in Bocholt-Hemden on Hamalandstraße, and outside the city with 111 km/h in Isselburg on L606 (both instead of 50 km/h).

The Traffic Division of the Circular Police Authority Borken has been actively monitoring the situation, having recorded the speed of 7,345 vehicles at 16 locations in Circular Borken. As a result, 11 driving bans, 241 administrative offence proceedings, and 825 warning fines were issued. Approximately 15% of the vehicles recorded exceeded the permitted speed limit.
