In the early hours of September 2nd, a fire erupted in a residential and commercial building situated on Rahmer Street in Huckarde, Dortmund, Germany.

The blaze, now identified as Case No.: 0764, was first spotted at approximately 00:15, with flames visible from the second-floor apartment. The Dortmund Fire Department responded promptly and managed to extinguish the fire after an operation that lasted around two hours.

Fortunately, all other residents of the building were unharmed. However, the apartment where the fire started and the one below it are no longer habitable due to the extensive water used to extinguish the fire. The heat from the fire also caused cracks in the windows of a restaurant on the ground floor.

One resident, a 56-year-old individual, was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Thankfully, their life was not at risk.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet specified. However, current findings suggest suspicion of negligent arson. The Criminal Police have taken over the investigation, and while a 56-year-old resident is being investigated, no specific suspect has been named so far.

The Dortmund Police evacuated the building due to the fire, ensuring the safety of all residents. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in residential and commercial buildings.
