Authorities are currently probing a blaze in Huckarde.
A fire broke out in a residential and commercial building in Huckarde, Dortmund, late on Monday night, 2nd September. The incident reference number is 0764.
The fire started on the second floor of a specific building on Rahmer Street, and flames were seen coming from a second-floor apartment around 00:15. The heat from the fire caused cracks in the windows of a restaurant on the ground floor.
The fire department was quick to respond, and they managed to extinguish the fire after about two hours. However, the apartment where the fire started and the one below it are no longer habitable due to the water used to extinguish the fire.
Fortunately, all other residents of the building remained unharmed. Police officers evacuated the residential building to ensure the safety of the occupants. One resident, a 56-year-old, was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Based on current findings, there is a suspicion of negligent arson. The Criminal Police have taken over the investigation, and they are still seeking witness information to identify possible suspects.
The Dortmund police have not named any suspect in connection with the suspected negligent arson of a VW Touran in Dortmund-Mitte on September 4, 2025.
