Authorities are engaged in tackling the primary factor behind the collision incident.
In the past week, the Circular Police Authority Borken has been cracking down on speeding drivers, recording numerous instances of excessive speeding at various locations across the region.
The traffic department, working tirelessly to combat and prevent accidents, set up a measuring point on the Amtsvennweg in Gronau. Here, a car was caught speeding at an alarming 123 km/h, far exceeding the maximum permitted speed of 70 km/h.
Outside the city, on the L606 in Isselburg, a speed of 111 km/h was recorded instead of the maximum permitted 50 km/h. Similarly, on the Hamalandstraße in Bocholt-Hemden, inside the city, a speed of 99 km/h was recorded, again exceeding the permitted 50 km/h.
Particularly concerning was the speed excess of 69 km/h instead of the maximum permitted 30 km/h on the Vennstraße in Gronau-Epe.
These excessive speeding incidents are not isolated cases. In recent days, the traffic department recorded the speed of 7345 vehicles at 16 locations in Circular Borken, with around 15% of the vehicles exceeding the permitted speed limit. This led to 11 driving bans, 241 administrative offense proceedings, and 825 warning fines.
Excessive speed and reckless driving continue to be among the main causes of accidents in Circular Borken. These accidents often result in severe consequences, even for uninvolved road users.
