Car Theft at Kaufland Gas Station in Dortmund: Police Seek Witnesses

In an unprecedented incident, a Mercedes car was stolen from the parking lot of a Kaufland market on Bornstraße, Dortmund, on Saturday evening at around 4:30 PM. The car belonged to a 33-year-old man from Castrop-Rauxel.

As per the reports, the owner of the car was shopping inside the supermarket when he received a message on his phone that the doors of his car had been opened. Upon returning to his vehicle, he found an unknown man searching the car, and several items worth several hundred euros were missing.

The suspect, described as a male, approximately 40 years old, 170-175 cm tall, of normal build, Eastern European appearance, bald, and wearing a blue T-shirt, fled the scene after a physical altercation with the car owner.

A left-behind gym bag at the scene contained a technical device, presumed to have been used to disrupt the car's radio signal when locking the vehicle. The police secured the device for further investigation.

Despite initiating search measures, the police have yet to locate the suspect. The Dortmund Police are urging anyone with information about the crime or the fleeing suspect to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at telephone number 0231/132-7441.
