In the early hours of September 4, 2021, police officers from Hamm made an arrest in connection with a burglary that took place on Beukenbergstraße.

According to information transmitted by the Police Presidency Hamm, the burglary occurred around 2:25 AM. The burglar gained access to the apartment through a door while the occupant was not present. Upon learning about the break-in, the occupant contacted a neighbour who had a key and alerted the police.

Upon arrival, the officers tried to open the door with a key, but the burglar tried to prevent this by bracing himself against the door. However, the burglar was unable to prevent the officers from entering the apartment, and he fled to an adjacent room.

During a search, stolen goods were found in several pockets of the detainee's clothing. Both the witness and the injured apartment occupant are known to the detainee. The occupant had installed a hidden camera and was able to watch the break-in live on his mobile phone.

The 35-year-old Bulgarian man offered strong resistance during his arrest and was taken into police custody. At the request of the public prosecutor's office, the detainee is to be brought before a judge tomorrow.
