Authorities have retrieved items from a rooftop storage box.

On Tuesday evening at approximately 7:30 PM, a roof box containing various items opened on Autobahn 45 in the Langenselbold triangle area, heading towards Aschaffenburg. The incident, initially reported by the South East Hesse Police Headquarters and transmitted via news aktuell, caused temporary closures of two lanes heading towards Aschaffenburg and one lane heading towards Giessen.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. However, the contents of the roof box, initially reported as a trash bag, were scattered across approximately 100 meters on two lanes of the highway. A top part of the roof box also blew onto the opposite lane towards Giessen, posing a hazard to traffic.

A patrol from the South East Hesse Highway Police responded immediately to the incident. A second patrol removed the remaining plastic covering and assisted in collecting the luggage. Images of the incident have been released by the South East Hesse Police (source: South East Hesse Police Headquarters).

The 59-year-old driver from the Lahn-Dill district, who was transporting the luggage, could not fit the contents back into his vehicle and had to call his son. The driver now faces an administrative offense procedure.
