A 37-year-old Syrian individual found themselves in legal trouble after presenting a fake Greek driver's license to the Federal Police in Bad Bentheim. The incident occurred on Sunday evening during temporarily reinstated internal border controls.
The individual's car was stopped and inspected at the Bentheimer Wald rest area by Federal Police officers. Upon closer examination, they discovered that the driver's license was a complete forgery. The forged license, though made from similar materials to the original, was entirely new and not an authentic document.
As a result of the discovery, a criminal investigation was initiated against the individual for forgery. The investigation, being conducted by the Federal Police Inspectorate Bad Bentheim, also includes charges of driving without a valid license.
