Authorities Recognized Once More as Family-Oriented Workplace Employer

The Baden-Württemberg Police has been awarded the "audit berufundfamilie" certificate, a recognition for its commitment to work-life balance as an employer. Dr. Stefanie Hinz, the President of the State Police, received the award on June 17, 2025, during a ceremony held in Berlin.

Dr. Hinz's statement demonstrates the Baden-Württemberg Police's long-standing commitment to family support. She emphasised the police profession's variety, diversity, challenges, and demands, and expressed her support for police officers' families.

The "audit berufundfamilie" certificate serves as a seal of approval for an employer's continuous improvement of family-friendly HR policies. The Baden-Württemberg Police's efforts in this regard include various part-time models, family-friendly training, childcare options, and remote work possibilities.

Thomas Strobl, Deputy Minister-President and Minister of the Interior, also stated that the police offers support during critical life phases, with flexible working conditions and childcare support as part of its personnel policy. He added that the police has been committed to work-life balance for many years.

Dr. Hinz stated that family is crucial for many police officers to cope with the daily demands of their work. She also mentioned that the Baden-Württemberg Police continues to develop its family-friendly policies in line with societal changes.

The Baden-Württemberg Police's efforts in work-life balance have been recognised twice, indicating that the police has set the right course. The Ministry of the Interior, for Digitalization and Communities, is the governing body for the Baden-Württemberg Police, and it supports these initiatives.

In her statement, Dr. Hinz also highlighted the Baden-Württemberg Police's support for its colleagues and consideration of their family needs. She reiterated that the police considers family as an essential aspect of its workforce's well-being and productivity.

The Baden-Württemberg Police's recognition as a family-friendly employer underscores its commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values its employees' personal lives as much as their professional ones. This approach is expected to foster a more balanced and productive workforce, capable of meeting the challenges of modern policing.
