Award winners at FesTVal 2025 include Ana María Bordas, 'La Revuelta', 'Futuro Imperfecto', and José Fernández
In the heart of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Palacio de Congresos Europa played host to the 17th edition of FesTVal, a celebration of television and audiovisual culture. The event, presented by Jota Abril and Ane Rot, and directed by Poty Castillo and Alberto Maeso, saw executives, figures, and artists from various networks gather together to honour the best in the industry.
One of the highlights of the evening was the return of Andreu Buenafuente to open television after a decade-long hiatus. With his weekly comedy space, 'Futuro imperfecto', airing on La 1, Buenafuente expressed his gratitude to FesTVal, his team, and TVE for allowing him to make comedy and TV in freedom. David Martos and Veronica Diaz, co-directors of 'Futuro imperfecto', also shared their pleasure in learning and enjoying Buenafuente every day.
The closing gala marked the end of 'Futuro imperfecto's' first season, which closed with an average audience of 11.9% and 1,233,000 followers, and more than 2,8 million unique spectators. The motto of the show, "The future will be imperfect, but it will be," seems to have resonated with viewers.
Another significant award of the night went to David Broncano, director and presenter of 'La Revuelta'. Two days before the new season was set to start on La 1, Broncano thanked public television for allowing 'La Revuelta' to continue growing. The program was awarded for being the television revolution of the year. Lalachus and Jorge Ponce, team members of 'La Revuelta', also received awards at FesTVal.
Jose Fernandez, deputy editor of the culture area of TVE News Services since 2007, received the FesTVal Lanzarote Award for his dedication and contribution to the development and promotion of audiovisual culture. Fernandez has specialized in cinematic information, produced, written, and directed the short film 'Identity', and is known for his work in the field.
Ana Maria Bordas, currently the director of Content Production at a certain website and president of the Reference Group of the EBU for Eurovision, received the Joan Ramon Mainat Award. The recognition was given for her impeccable professional career, leadership, innovation, public service, and international relevance. Bordas will combine her current position with that of president of the Reference Group of the EBU for Eurovision for the next two years.
Comedians Xavier Deltell and Daniel Fez provided entertainment at the closing gala, while Nebulossa and Twin Melody graced the event with their presence. Maria Eizaguirre, director of Communication and Participation of RTVE, was also present to present and participate in the launches and presentations of RTVE projects such as the documentary series "Generación Cannabis," the new original show "Cuánto, cuánto, cuánto," and the TV adaptation of the Trivial Pursuit board game.
As the curtains closed on another successful FesTVal, it's clear that the future of Spanish television is in good hands, with innovative shows like 'Futuro imperfecto' and 'La Revuelta' leading the way.
