Bacolod street dance competition victor hailed from Barangay 8 in the rum festival
The 5th Bacolod Rum Festival, held on August 30, 2025, at the Bacolod City Government Center, was a vibrant celebration of the city's rich culture, talent, and rum-making heritage.
Tanduay Distillers Inc.'s Executive Vice President, Dennis Ching, commended the community's participation and celebrated the partnership with the city. He acknowledged the participation of seven schools in TDI's Rum Education initiative and the eight barangays in the competition.
The festival's theme was "Nakatagong Galing" (Hidden Talent), which was beautifully showcased through performances that highlighted Bacolod's local talent in various fields, including culture, tourism, artistry, governance, and rum-making.
The street and arena dance competition was the highlight of the event. Barangay 8 emerged as the winner, securing their second consecutive title. Yuri Delicano, a previous winner in 2018, once again shone on the stage. Barangay Cabug finished in second place, and Barangay 6 placed third. Each winning barangay received cash prizes—P100,000 for the first place, P60,000 for the second, and P40,000 for the third.
Mayor Greg Gasataya expressed his aspirations for the next Rum Festival to be more colorful, intentional, and purposeful. He emphasized the city's dedication to supporting Bacolodnons in creative and bartending fields and renewed his commitment to honoring Bacolod's heritage and promoting Tanduay Rum.
The festival concluded with a free grand concert featuring popular artists such as Mayonnaise, Zack Tabudlo, Amiel Sol, Robledo Timido, Derek Ramsay, and Julia Barretto. The event was a testament to the city's vibrant culture and the talent it nurtures.
Overall, the 5th Bacolod Rum Festival was a resounding success, bringing together the community, showcasing local talent, and celebrating Bacolod's rich heritage.
