In the first half of 2025, residents of Yakutia witnessed a significant rise in complaints related to banking services, according to data from the Bank of Russia. The total number of complaints rose by 14%, amounting to 490 complaints, a notable increase compared to the same period the previous year.

The majority of these complaints, 252, were directed at credit organizations, signifying a 7% increase compared to the previous year. The most common issues concerned debt repayment problems in consumer lending, with 58 complaints reported.

The increase in complaints about credit organizations and settlement accounts suggests a growing concern among Yakutia residents about these services. This trend is further evidenced by a nearly 1.5 times increase in complaints related to settlement accounts, up to 68.

Remote banking services have been a particular concern for Yakutia residents, with complaints primarily focusing on restrictions in this area. Residents have expressed frustration over banks' actions to combat fraud, which may have unintended consequences for legitimate users.

The Bank of Russia's efforts to combat fraud also extend to the use of a special database that includes data from 'droppers', although the exact nature of this term was not specified in the article. If a person's data ends up in this database, banks can take measures such as blocking cards, limiting online transfers, and disabling remote banking services.

The number of complaints about insurers remained relatively stable, with about half of the complaints related to OSAGO. The number of complaints about microfinance organizations, on the other hand, decreased from 109 to 99.

The Bank of Russia offers various channels for residents to voice their concerns. The "CB online" mobile application, for instance, provides a chat service to connect with an expert from the regulator. Additionally, residents can contact the Bank of Russia via the hotline 8 800 300-30-00 or through the online reception for inquiries.

Igor Nazorov, deputy manager of the Bank of Russia's Yakutia branch, confirmed that banks are taking measures to combat fraud. This action is designed to prevent fraudsters from withdrawing stolen money through other people.

In the first half of 2026, there were no search results addressing criticism of the Bank of Russia by residents of Yakutia or changes in the number of complaints compared to the previous year. This could imply that the measures taken by the Bank of Russia are beginning to address the concerns of Yakutia residents. However, continuous monitoring and engagement with the public will be crucial to ensure the banking sector remains accessible and reliable for all.
