Bank staff in Koblenz embezzled multiple thousands of euros from their bank

In the city of Koblenz, authorities are urging caution as a series of bank fraud incidents have been reported. The scam involves perpetrators posing as bank employees, contacting victims by phone, and claiming unauthorized large sums of money are about to be withdrawn from their accounts.

These fraudsters have been known to mention a specific Koblenz bank branch address and, in some cases, have even visited victims' homes uninvited, attempting to obtain their EC cards and PINs. This tactic seems to be part of their consistent modus operandi.

After questioning about the bank card's whereabouts, the perpetrators provide a false accreditation and transaction number, hoping to pressure victims into handing over their sensitive banking information. However, it's crucial to remember that under no circumstances should bank cards, PINs, or strangers be allowed into one's home.

Three criminal complaints were filed in Koblenz on August 29th, and it's essential to report any suspicious calls or visits to the police immediately. In some instances, victims have become suspicious, preventing the withdrawal of the money.

To avoid falling victim to this scam, the police advise against disclosing personal data such as your address over the phone. If you receive a call claiming there is an unauthorized withdrawal from your account, it's best to terminate the call and contact your bank directly using a known phone number.

In addition, the police recommend informing family and friends about this scam to help spread awareness and protect others from potential fraud. Stay vigilant, and remember, your bank will never ask for your PIN or bank card details over the phone.
