Barca's deliberations about Marcus Rashford's future allegedly not leading to a return to Manchester United, according to his camp's assertions
Marcus Rashford, the 27-year-old English forward, has been in the spotlight recently, both for his performance with the national team and his loan spell at LaLiga champions Barcelona.
Rashford was called up by England manager Thomas Tuchel for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. In the match against Andorra, Rashford started and had some impressive moments in the first half. Tuchel praised Rashford's effort and attitude in training, but noted that he struggled to find positions against the right side during the match.
Meanwhile, Rashford's time at Barcelona has been marked by limited minutes on the pitch. He made his debut for the club in a match against Levante, but has since made only two more appearances this season. Despite this, Rashford's dream move to Barcelona was met with excitement, and the club has the option to make his move permanent for £30million.
However, a recent report in Spanish outlet El Nacional suggested that Barcelona were considering ending Rashford's loan deal early, with Nou Camp bosses said to be unimpressed by his start in LaLiga. This bombshell report was met with denial from sources close to Rashford, who vehemently denied these claims.
Barcelona's performance against Levante, where Rashford started, was a mixed bag. The team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the match, with goals from Pedri and Ferran Torres, and a late own-goal from Unai Elgezabal. However, Rashford was subbed off at half-time by manager Hansi Flick, who led Barcelona to win the 2025 Supercopa de España and achieved significant wins including a 4-0 victory in El Clásico against Real Madrid.
Despite the speculation and Rashford's limited playing time, Barcelona and manager Hansi Flick are still giving Rashford their full support. As the World Cup qualifiers continue, Rashford will no doubt be hoping to make his mark on the international stage and prove his worth to both England and Barcelona.
