Baseball Team Secures 5-1 Victory Over Rivals with Pair of Two-Run Homers

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies squared off at PNC Park on Sunday morning, with the game starting at 10:05 a.m. The contest was a thrilling one, culminating in a 5-1 win for the home team.

In the second inning, Andrew McCutchen, a key player for the Pirates, hit a crucial home run, giving his team a lead they never surrendered. This was McCutchen's 12th home run of the season. Jared Triolo followed suit with a two-run home run an inning later, making the score 4-0.

Mike Burrows, a rookie pitcher for the Pirates, led the team's pitching staff with an impressive performance. Burrows pitched four shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. Carmen Mlodzinski came in in relief of Burrows and added two more shutout innings to the Pirates' victory.

On the other side, Kyle Freeland struggled for the Rockies. He allowed five runs and seven hits over five innings, striking out six. Freeland's loss brings his record to 9-14, tying him for the third-most losses in the majors.

Unfortunately for the Rockies, their losing streak continued as Brenton Doyle spoiled the Pirates' shutout with a ninth-inning home run.

For the Rockies, Sunday marked the MLB debut of McCade Brown, a third-round selection in the 2021 draft who has worked his way up the organization over the last four years.

Fans who missed the game can catch the replay on Rockies.TV, Comcast/Xfinity (channel 1262), DirecTV (683), Spectrum (130, 445, 305, 435 or 445, depending on region). The game can also be heard on 850 AM and 94.1 FM radio stations.

The pitching matchup for Sunday was between McCade Brown and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arizona's Zac Gallen and Washington's Mitchell Parker have more losses than Freeland. Colorado's Antonio Senzatela has the most losses among the mentioned pitchers.

In 20 starts this season, Brown has a 4-2 record with a 2.47 ERA, with his last 11 starts being with Double-A Hartford. This promising debut bodes well for the future of the Colorado Rockies.
