Bavarian Agriculture Minister pays tribute to the late Bocklet (deceased)
In a statement made on Saturday evening, the current Bavarian Minister of Agriculture, Michaela Kaniber (CSU), expressed her sadness at the death of former Agriculture Minister Reinhold Bocklet.
Reinhold Bocklet, a long-time member of the CSU's district association in Rottal-Inn, passed away on January 17, 2023, at the age of 65. Born on January 2, 1958, Bocklet dedicated over four decades of his life to politics.
During his political career, Bocklet served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1979 until 1993, before moving on to become a Member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2017. He also held the prestigious position of Bavarian Agriculture Minister and served as Vice President of the Bavarian Landtag.
Throughout his tenure, Bocklet demonstrated great expertise in his work for Bavarian agriculture. He tirelessly worked to promote and protect the interests of Bavarian farmers, earning him the Bavarian Order of Merit for his services to agriculture and politics.
Bocklet's funeral will take place on Tuesday in Pfarrkirchen, Lower Bavaria. The service will be held at St. Marien and St. Nikolaus Church. Michaela Kaniber has invited all politicians to attend the funeral as a mark of respect for the late minister.
In a gesture of remembrance, Bocklet's family has requested that donations be made to the "Bavarian Agricultural Museum" in his memory.
Reinhold Bocklet will be remembered for his dedication to Bavarian agriculture and his significant contributions to politics over the years. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
