Bavarian Family Enterprise Files for Bankruptcy, Leaving Many Workers Affected
Möbelfabrik Mausbacher GmbH, a traditional furniture manufacturer based in Sonnefeld-Hassenberg, Bavaria, has filed for insolvency. The 65-year-old family-owned business, which prides itself on "Progress and development for 65 years," is currently undergoing a restructuring process.
The insolvency filing is not expected to affect the continuation of the company's operations. Managing Director Marco Mausbacher emphasized that the procedure aims to streamline structures and align the company for the future. He added that the company's clear objective is to emerge strengthened from this phase.
Production and delivery are continuing during the insolvency process, as previously stated. The difficulties faced by Möbelfabrik Mausbacher GmbH are due to an unexpectedly strong drop in orders in the summer, significantly above usual seasonal fluctuations. The failure of a drilling center and delays in the commissioning of a new facility further burdened the processes and liquidity of the company.
Mausbacher wants to independently control the necessary steps for stabilization and restructuring through self-administration. The court's supervision in the self-administration procedure of Möbelfabrik Mausbacher GmbH has been taken over by lawyer Andrea Wollner, who is an attorney appointed as the preliminary administrator.
A total of 125 employees work at Möbelfabrik Mausbacher GmbH in the areas of development, purchasing, production, packaging, logistics, IT, sales, and customer service. Business operations, wages, and salaries are being secured via insolvency benefits.
The responsible court is overseeing the self-administration procedure, and Mausbacher is hopeful that this approach will enable the company to lead the traditional Mausbacher brand into the future in a sustainable manner. The company's website continues to advertise itself with "Progress and development for 65 years."
Möbelfabrik Mausbacher GmbH is located in Sonnefeld-Hassenberg in the district of Coburg. The company's insolvency filing is part of a restructuring process initiated by the company.
