Jovana Damnjanovic nearly put Leverkusen ahead in the 68th minute but hit the bar. Lilla Turanyi was unlucky not to get a penalty after being pulled by Magdalena Eriksson.
Klara Buhl was brought on by Bayern's coach to add freshness and pace, and her impact was immediate. The win marks a positive start for Bayern's new coach, José Barcala, who is bringing a fresh philosophy and clear ideas for modern women’s football to Munich.
