Ulta Beauty Expands Board and Global Presence

Ulta Beauty, the American beauty retailer, has made significant moves in both its leadership and international expansion. The company has announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors: Martin Brok and Stephenie Landry.

Martin Brok, a seasoned executive with a diverse background, currently holds positions on the boards of cosmetics company Revlon and plant-based beverage producer Oatly. Prior to his current roles, Brok served as president and CEO of Sephora for nearly two years, and he has also worked at Coca-Cola, Burger King, and Nike. In addition, Brok is the founder and CEO of MB Capital Advisors and a partner at private equity firm Advent International.

Stephenie Landry, another new addition to the Ulta Beauty board, brings over 20 years of leadership experience in consumer technology, retail operations, and strategic transformation. Landry spent 19 years at Amazon, starting as a senior manager and holding various executive roles, including vice president of grocery and operations net zero. Effective September 1, 2025, she will also serve on Ulta Beauty’s Board of Directors and be a member of its Audit and Compensation Committees.

As for Ulta Beauty's global expansion, the company has acquired British chain Space NK as part of its strategy to enter the British market. Space NK specializes in niche and luxury brands and has 83 stores in the UK and Ireland. The acquisition comes after a pause in new location openings in April 2022.

In addition to its plans for the British market, Ulta Beauty is also looking to expand into Mexico. The company will enter the Mexican market through a joint venture with Grupo Axo in the second half of 2025. Grupo Axo operates brands such as Victoria's Secret, Guess, and Bath & Body Works.

Ulta Beauty's current retail partnership with Target, which allows operation in over 600 Target stores, will come to an end in 2026. The company has decided not to renew this alliance.

Martin Brok is also currently a member of Primark's strategic advisory board, further demonstrating his commitment to the retail sector. With the addition of Brok and Landry, Ulta Beauty is well-positioned for continued growth and success in the beauty industry.
