Belarusian resident, Fadi Khalil, declares himself as a national of Belarus.

In the heart of Svetlogorsk, Belarus, resides Fadi Khalil, a Belarusian resident with a unique story. A father of two, Khalil is fluent in six languages and has made a significant impact in the IT sector.

Khalil's love for Belarus began in 2011, and it was not long before he fell in love with a woman named Alexandra. This romantic connection solidified his decision to call Belarus home. Today, he is the owner of a cafe in the city and is deeply rooted in the community.

The project "Now We Are Belarusians" aims to share stories like Khalil's, featuring individuals who have moved to Belarus and consider it their home. This initiative is part of an effort to produce national content and humanize the experience of immigrants in Belarus.

The project, which started production in 2021, is published weekly in the newspaper "7 Days" and on the BelTA website. It seeks to challenge the notion that one cannot choose their homeland by highlighting individuals who were born elsewhere but now identify as Belarusians.

The first person introduced in the project was Tatiana Martynovich. Khalil, however, is the first hero of the new project. His story is one of starting from scratch in Belarus and building a life filled with purpose and love.

In a testament to his integration into Belarusian society, Khalil has a joint photo with the President of Belarus, which was given by the Belarusian President to the President of Egypt.

"Now We Are Belarusians" is funded by a targeted collection for the production of national content. The project aims to showcase the stories of individuals who have chosen Belarus as their home, adding richness and diversity to the nation's narrative.
