Berlin bid farewell to Tousart, with Diogo Leite continuing solo training sessions
Lucas Tousart Bids Farewell to Union Berlin as He Returns to France
After a two-year stint at Union Berlin, Lucas Tousart is leaving the Bundesliga club and returning to his homeland, France. The midfielder, who joined Union Berlin from Hertha BSC in 2020, has signed a two-year contract with Stade Brest.
Tousart, who was the captain of the French U21 national team, appeared in 40 competitive games for Union Berlin. His tenure with the club came to an end following their relegation in the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, Diogo Leite, a defender who remains at Union Berlin, has not been deployed in the current season. It's unclear if his lack of deployment is due to injury or tactical reasons, as the club has not disclosed any details about his situation. Leite, of Portuguese nationality, was not involved in any transfer activity during the summer. He was spotted training individually on Monday, but it's unknown if this is part of a recovery or fitness program.
Union Berlin did not disclose the release terms for Tousart, keeping the details of his departure private. It's also not mentioned if Leite has any intention to leave the club beyond the current season.
As Tousart prepares for his new adventure with Stade Brest, Union Berlin will be looking to rebuild their squad and regain their place in the Bundesliga next season.
