Bersatu Confident of Growing Support Ahead of Imminent Sabah Election

In a recent statement, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, expressed confidence that public support for the party in Sabah is growing. Muhyiddin described the Sabah state election as imminent and stated that groundwork for the election has already begun months earlier.

After their annual assembly, Bersatu's focus will be preparations for the upcoming Sabah state election. Muhyiddin emphasized the importance of careful planning and strategic decision-making, as well as the need for party unity as the foundation of Bersatu's strength.

Muhyiddin named Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan as a potential candidate for Chief Minister in the next Sabah state election. However, he did not confirm or deny the possibility of Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee being proposed for the role.

The discussions regarding political alliances will reportedly take place closer to the election, with Muhyiddin ruling out any cooperation with GRS. Muhyiddin stated that they will wait for the right time to make significant announcements.

Muhyiddin expressed hope that a new government will emerge after the coming state election in Sabah. He stated that he, along with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and other colleagues, have met with communities in Sabah and found that the people want change and reject the current government under Hajiji Noor.

In the past, Bersatu claims that GRS betrayed them, and Muhyiddin reiterated this sentiment, stating that Hajiji Noor, previously named chief minister by Bersatu, turned his back on them. Muhyiddin also mentioned the need for potential cooperation with parties aligned with Bersatu.

Preparations in other states are also underway, with Muhyiddin emphasizing that Bersatu's focus remains on the upcoming Sabah state election. The party is hopeful for a strong showing in Sabah and a chance to bring about the change that the people desire.
