BHC rises, leaving its boss bereft of breath.
In a thrilling handball match that took place on September 3rd at the Uni-Hall, the Berlin Handball Club (BHC) faced off against HC Erlangen. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams showcasing their skills and determination.
The match started with Hakun West av Teigum scoring the first goal for HC Erlangen, setting the tone for an intense encounter. The BHC responded quickly, with Johannes Wasielewski scoring the first goal of the new season for the Berliners, making it 1:2.
The BHC continued to fight back, with Fabian Wiede and Yannick Fraatz finding the back of the net, taking the score to 3:2 in favour of the Berliners. However, a series of goals by Mathias Gidsel and Tim Freihofer saw HC Erlangen take a comfortable 5:3 lead.
The BHC refused to give up and managed to level the score at 5:5, thanks to goals from Soren Steinhaus (making it 11:11) and Noah Beyer (scoring from a seven-meter throw). The game remained tight, with both teams trading goals until the 35th minute, when Beyer scored to tie the game at 22:22.
Unfortunately for the BHC, they ran out of steam in the second half and found themselves trailing 25:33 in the 48th minute. The Berliners fought hard to get back into the game, but missed several opportunities to level the score.
Eloy Morante Maldonado hit the crossbar and was denied by goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev, while Scholtes missed an equalizing opportunity for the BHC. Mijajlo Marsenic scored two consecutive goals, making it 30:24 and 31:24, before the BHC missed another chance to level the score.
With one second left in the first half, Freihofer scored to make it 20:17 at halftime. The second half was a more even contest, with both teams scoring regularly. Gidsel scored his eleventh goal, making it 35:27 in the 55th minute, before the BHC managed to pull one back, making the final score 35:28.
The BHC missed the injured Belal Massoud in the match, and were shown a red card in the 20th minute, when Johannes Wasielewski was sent off. Despite the setbacks, the BHC showed great resilience and fought hard until the final whistle.
The next game for the BHC is on Wednesday, September 3rd, against HC Erlangen at the Uni-Hall (7 pm). The coach of the opposing team is yet to be confirmed.
