Biden Provides Guidelines for Fair and Equal State and Local Data Distribution
In a significant move towards addressing systemic racial inequalities, President Joe Biden issued an executive order on his first day in office. It encourages state and local governments to revisit their data collection policies to ensure equity, with a focus on politically motivated changes in data collection to provide adequate informational compensation for underprivileged communities.
At the federal level, ministries and agencies responsible for integration, education, and justice, such as the Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe and relevant ministries in Baden-Württemberg, are expected to play a key role in this regard. At the municipal level, local education authorities and local government bodies that regulate school policies and social services, especially those managing school curricula and asylum-related support services, are also expected to take part in this initiative.

It acknowledges that achieving racial equity may be difficult, if not impossible, without better data.
