Biker collides with automobile on the road
Yesterday afternoon, a 64-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Kreuzberg. The incident occurred on Köpenicker Straße towards Schlesisches Tor at around 4:30 PM.
The motorcyclist was using the bike lane on the right side of the road to overtake other vehicles. However, a 63-year-old woman driving a car in front of the motorcyclist attempted to turn right into a driveway, causing the motorcyclist to swerve left to avoid a collision.
Unfortunately, the motorcyclist lost control and crashed into the car, sliding onto the opposite lane. The initial police report incorrectly stated that the victim was a male motorcyclist, but it was later confirmed that the victim was indeed a 64-year-old woman.
The 63-year-old driver and the 54-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident were both unharmed. The motorcyclist was immediately taken to a hospital with serious injuries and admitted for further treatment.
The traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 1 (North) has taken over the investigation. Initially, the investigation was handled by the traffic investigation service of Police Directorate 1 (Nord), but it was later continued by a specialized commission for traffic offenses of Police Directorate 5 (City).
As of now, the head of the traffic investigation department of Police Directorate 1, who is taking over the investigation, is not explicitly named in the available search results.
Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist and her family during this difficult time. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
