The transfer of a Boeing 747-8 valued at $400 million, gifted to President Trump by Qatar, has sparked controversy and raised concerns in Congress.

According to reports by The New York Times, the modernization of the new presidential plane will take a year or two, during which time it will be equipped with the latest communication and protection systems. Air Force specialists are currently working on this project.

However, there are suspicions that the plane may not be a genuine gift, but a bribe intended to influence Trump's decisions. Some politicians believe that this transfer was not for its stated purpose, and that the funds, initially labeled as a project to modernize ground-based nuclear missiles, were actually part of a secret $934 million transfer from the Pentagon.

Congress has expressed concern about this deal, with Senator Democrat Jeanne Shaheen voicing her worries. She believes that such a transfer from the budget weakens national security. Shaheen, along with other representatives, suspects that this transfer may have been fitted with special eavesdropping devices.

The President, however, has stated that the plane is not a personal gift to him, but to the U.S. Air Force and the Pentagon. He expressed dissatisfaction with the criticism of the gift, stating that it will serve the country well.

There are also concerns that Trump may pressure the Air Force to complete the work quickly, potentially compromising security measures. These concerns come as the Pentagon approved the transfer of the plane on May 21.

As the modernization process continues, the controversy surrounding the plane's origins and purpose remains a topic of discussion in political circles. Despite the President's assertions, some congressional representatives have not been able to identify the representative who approved the deal in their search results, adding fuel to the speculation.
