Mark Zuckerberg: Forgoing Big-Time Gambling, Dabbling in Poker

When it comes to flaunting wealth and splurging on lavish expenses, billionaires have a well-earned reputation. However, that's not the case with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who recently posted clips on his Instagram stories of him playing $2/$5 poker at the Wynn Las Vegas, a relatively tame bet for a man boasting a net worth of $207 billion.

At 40, Zuckerberg, known for keeping a low profile, could be seen taking a sizable pot and receiving cheers from his fellow players in a private game. Among them was Australian UFC fighter Alexander Volkanovski. Apparently, the Meta CEO was in town with his wife for UFC 313, having developed a recent interest in mixed martial arts (MMA).

In fact, he's been quite visible in the UFC community. Zuckerberg has been spotted in the corner of Volkanovski last year during his bout against Ilia Topuria in UFC 298. But all this attention from UFC fans might not be entirely positive.

Several UFC enthusiasts believe there's a supposed "Zuckerberg curse." Numerous fighters reportedly slumped into losing streaks right after appearing in photos with the tech tycoon, including Volkanovski, Kai Wurm, Israel Adesanya, and most recently, Alex Pereira.

However, Zuckerberg has largely kept quiet about poker in the past, making it hard to gauge his skills at the table. The only time he mentioned it was during a podcast with Joe Rogan, where he shared his thoughts on how virtual reality could allow players to feel like they're at a poker table, all while relaxing in the comfort of their own homes.

To be clear, there's no evidence or discussion of a "Zuckerberg curse" in UFC. Zuckerberg is more widely recognized for his tech ventures than his sports or gaming pursuits. And when it comes to professional poker, Zuckerberg's involvement, if any, remains inconspicuous in the poker community.
