Blooming Showcase: The Caprese Garden from Spring Collection's Featured Gardens
In our latest instalment of "Women Who Inspire," we delve into the world of Paula Lambert, the visionary behind the renowned Mozzarella Company, and her love for the Classic Caprese Salad.
Paula's journey began in Dallas, Texas, where she revolutionised the foodie scene in 1982 with the creation of the Mozzarella Company. Fast forward to today, and her passion for quality cheese continues to shine. When asked about her favourite salad, Paula's response was immediate: the Caprese.
The Caprese salad, a summer staple, is a simple yet delectable combination of tomato, Mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar glaze. Its origins can be traced back to post-World War I Italy, where it was first printed on the menu at the Hotel Quisisana.
The salad gained popularity in the 1950s when King Farouk requested a light afternoon snack and was served a Caprese sandwich. Since then, it has become a firm favourite, listed among the top five favourite salads in America.
This summer, we are thrilled to introduce the Caprese Garden, a new addition to Gardenuity's Spring Collection. Co-founder and CEO Donna Letier shares her fondness for this garden, stating, "The Caprese Garden reminds me of summer."
The Caprese Garden is a complete garden kit for growing fresh basil and tomato plants, perfect for those who love Italian cuisine. It features ingredients commonly used in the Caprese salad, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to grow their own ingredients.
On Thursday, March 12, 2020, we will be celebrating the launch of the Caprese Salad Garden Kit with an event. Paula Lambert will be joining us to share her story and lead a cheese tasting. Donna Letier, CEO of Gardenuity, expressed her excitement about launching the Caprese Garden with Paula Lambert.
In addition to the Caprese Garden, we've compiled three delicious tomato recipes to try this summer. Tomatoes, often referred to as the "summer fruit" due to their juiciness, vibrancy, and flavour, are a versatile ingredient that can elevate any dish.
As we continue to celebrate the women who inspire us, we invite you to join us in embracing the fresh, vibrant flavours of the Caprese salad and garden. Happy gardening!
