BMW unveils the iX3 with New Class styling and advanced technology
Introducing the New BMW iX3: A Leap Forward in Electric Vehicle Technology
BMW has unveiled its latest electric offering, the new BMW iX3. This fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) marks the first series-produced Neue Klasse model and is set to revolutionise the electric vehicle market.
The new BMW iX3 showcases the values and qualities of the Neue Klasse within the template of an SAV, offering generous interior space and a progressive lifestyle. The vehicle's high-voltage battery, powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, offers a range of up to 805 kilometres (500 miles) and a peak charging rate of 400 kW.
One of the standout features of the new BMW iX3 is its expanded selection of charging accessories. The vehicle comes equipped with the new Multifunction Charger, the new BMW Wallbox Professional (DC), and cost-optimised/solar-power-optimised home charging options. The intelligent charging flap, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect the customer's intention to top up their car and then automatically opens or closes, further enhances the charging experience.
In terms of design, the new BMW iX3 features an all-new design language that gives it a character-rich appearance. The new BMW Panoramic iDrive system brings together four central elements into a unique display and control/operation system, with the Central Display located in an ergonomically ideal position next to the steering wheel.
The new BMW iX3 also offers extensive bidirectional charging functions, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications. The vehicle is equipped with four high-performance computers known as "superbrains" for driving dynamics, automated driving, infotainment, and basic & comfort-enhancing functions.
The new-generation BMW iX3's electronics architecture comprises a total of four high-performance computers, which provide the basis for a new software architecture that can be continuously upgraded and is designed to incorporate upcoming function updates, including AI features.
The first variant of the fully electric SAV to roll off the production line from autumn 2025 will be the BMW iX3 50 xDrive with an output of 345 kW/469 hp and electric all-wheel drive. The market launch of the new BMW iX3 will begin in Europe in spring 2026 and in the USA in summer 2026.
A variant of the new BMW iX3 produced at the Shenyang facility for the Chinese market will be delivered starting in summer 2026. The first Neue Klasse model will be built at the newly constructed BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The production of the BMW iX3 at this facility is set to begin soon, marking the first series production of this electric model in the new plant, which is part of BMW's Neue Klasse and iFACTORY concepts.
The new BMW iX3 will launch the new BMW design language, which will be replicated across the whole of the brand's model range. This electric SAV represents a significant leap forward in development over its predecessor and sets new standards for efficiency and long-distance capability. The new BMW iX3 is set to redefine electric vehicle technology and provide a compelling driving experience for customers.
