BMW's i Vision Dynamics model, referred to as the i5, will transform into an electric variant of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe by the year 2020.

BMW, the renowned German automaker, has announced the upcoming release of the electric version of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. This new model, expected to hit the market later this year, shares the same platform as the conventional 4 Series Gran Coupe and is produced in Munich.

The electric 4 Series Gran Coupe is set to offer a thrilling acceleration from 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds, making it a formidable competitor in the electric vehicle (EV) market. BMW's ambitious plan to grow its EV lineup to 12 BEVs by 2025 includes the electric 4 Series Gran Coupe and the soon-to-be-revealed BMW i5.

The BMW i5, like its counterpart i4, is an electric Gran Coupe vehicle with an estimated range of around 400 miles. Both vehicles are part of BMW's strategy to compete with other EV manufacturers, such as Tesla. The BMW i4, a production version of last year's Concept i4, will also join the market this year.

The BMW i5 is the production version of the concept car previously previewed by the BMW i Vision Dynamics. The design of the electric 4 Series Gran Coupe will aim to create a more fluid appearance compared to the current model, following much of the design from the i Vision Dynamics.

BMW has not revealed the price point for the electric 4 Series Gran Coupe yet, but it could potentially be competitive with the Tesla Model 3. The automaker has already shown its commitment to electric vehicles, having reached its goal of producing 100,000 electrified cars in 2017.

In addition to the electric 4 Series Gran Coupe, BMW is also working on other EVs, such as the electric X3 and iNext, which are expected to arrive after the electric 4 Series Gran Coupe. BMW has also partnered with Solid Power in the US to commercialize Solid State batteries, a technology that could potentially improve the efficiency and range of its EVs.

The electric 4 Series Gran Coupe may also be offered with both petrol and diesel engines in addition to electric power, offering customers more choices. The BMW i5 and i4 are expected to join the electric vehicle market later this year, marking another step in BMW's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability.
