Bolt plans to broaden its ride-sharing services beyond the city limits of Auckland
In the bustling city of Auckland, Bolt, a global shared mobility platform, has made a significant impact in just eight weeks. The company, which operates in more than 600 cities across 50 countries and boasts over 200 million customers worldwide, is now a popular choice for many Aucklanders.
Bolt New Zealand Country Manager, Adam Muirson, shared that thousands of drivers and tens of thousands of riders have chosen Bolt since its launch in mid-June. This surge in interest has resulted in a significant increase in driver sign-ups, growing by over 350 percent, and total rider sign-ups increasing almost 600 percent. The number of weekly rides on Bolt in Auckland has also increased by around 200 percent.
Muirson expressed that many of Bolt's driver partners are pleased with the company's commission structure and local team support. He also mentioned that Bolt's lower commission rates mean more take-home pay for drivers. However, Muirson did not provide specific numbers regarding the increase in driver sign-ups, total rider sign-ups, or weekly rides since the introduction of Bolt in Auckland.
The most popular day for travel on Bolt in Auckland is Saturday, with peak times for travel at 4pm and 11pm. The longest trip taken in a Bolt car in Auckland so far has been 225km. Interestingly, the most common pick-up and drop-off point for Bolt rides in Auckland is central Auckland, making it a convenient option for city dwellers.
Muirson did not mention the most popular day for travel on Bolt in Auckland or the peak times for travel, but he did express that driver support has been lacking in New Zealand "for a long while". He also did not provide any information about the longest trip taken in a Bolt car in Auckland or the most common pick-up and drop-off point for Bolt rides in Auckland.
Looking ahead, Bolt is considering local expansion in New Zealand, specifically in Christchurch and Wellington, two major urban centers that are likely to follow Auckland's positive initial market results. This expansion could make Bolt an even more accessible option for Kiwis across the country.
Bolt's competitive pricing allows more Aucklanders to get where they need to be for better prices. The company has also introduced new initiatives not offered by its rivals in New Zealand, which could further set it apart in the market. With its growing popularity and commitment to improving the ride-sharing experience, Bolt is poised to continue making waves in New Zealand.
