Bomb Discovered in Hattingen - District Plans Successfully Implemented.
In the small town of Hattingen, an unexpected incident unfolded on Friday morning when an aircraft bomb was discovered during construction work. The organisational leader of the emergency services, along with the leading physician, quickly arrived at the scene.
The bomb was found in close proximity to a retirement home, causing immediate concern for the safety of its residents. The city of Hattingen took charge of coordinating the overall measures, ensuring a swift and effective response.
The command vehicle "ELW2" of the Ennepe-Ruhr district, along with the special operations group Information and Communication of the fire department in Witten, were deployed to coordinate the measures. Martin Weber, the district fire chief, expressed his continued satisfaction with the cooperation among all involved units from the district.
Melanie Gendrulis, the operations manager of the fire department, praised the cooperation between the deployed forces from aid organisations and fire department personnel. The alerting of the extended emergency services ensured the immediate availability of the required vehicles and personnel.
During the evacuation of the retirement home, a total of 11 residents were transported by the emergency services. More than ten ambulances and rescue vehicles from aid organisations in the district were used to transport the residents. After the successful defusing, non-ambulatory persons were transported back to their homes and the retirement home by vehicles of the extended emergency services.
Thomas Gurski, the deputy chief of the fire department in Hattingen, observed the command vehicle's performance on site. He noted its effectiveness in coordinating deployment forces during the incident.
