Bomb fabricator openly admits selling devices to student population
A 48-year-old man, known as Wichan or the Silken Tiger, was apprehended during a raid on his residence in Tha Sai district, Samut Sakhon province. The arrest came following credible information about the illegal production and sale of explosives at the house.
The police operation involved an undercover officer and resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of explosive materials. Thirty-six rockets, sixty-seven grammes of propellant powder, one hundred forty long fuses, and forty-seven short fuses were found during the raid. Additionally, three rocket launchers and three hand grenades were seized.
Wichan admitted to manufacturing and selling ping-pong bombs and fireworks, as well as the intent to sell the seized explosives. He also confessed to selling methamphetamine pills.
Before conducting the house search on Friday, the police in Samut Sakhon had already found evidence of forest encroachment and illegal wildlife possession related to Wichan.
The suspect will face charges under the Explosives Act and the Narcotics Act. It was revealed that many of his clients were vocational students.
The arrest marks a significant blow to the illegal explosives and drug trade in the Samut Sakhon area. The police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any associates of Wichan involved in these activities.
The house, located behind Wat Khlong Khru, is now under police custody as evidence is gathered and further investigations are conducted. The Silken Tiger's arrest serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities in Thailand.
