Booking a Delhi Metro ticket online is possible through various platforms including WhatsApp, PhonePe, and the Uber app, among others.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made commuting more convenient with the introduction of QR-based tickets, which can now be booked through more than ten widely used apps. This move eliminates the need for commuters to download a dedicated Delhi Metro or Noida Metro app to book tickets.
The new partnership between DMRC and the Open Network for our platformal Commerce (ONDC) has enabled online metro ticket booking services via mobile apps. Commuters can now book tickets using popular apps such as Google Maps, EaseMyTrip, PhonePe, Uber, Rapido, RedBus, NammaYatri, Yatri Railways, Chartr, Tummoc, and Telegram (via Miles & Kilometres).
One of the most significant changes is the revised pricing for Delhi Metro tickets, the first increase in eight years. The new prices are as follows: Rs 11 for 0-2 kilometres, Rs 21 for 2-5 kilometres, Rs 32 for distances between 5 and 12 kilometres, Rs 43 for up to 21 kilometres, Rs 54 for distances between 21 and 32 kilometres, and Rs 64 for distances beyond 32 kilometres.
Commuters can book a Delhi Metro ticket via PhonePe by opening the app, going to the "Commute" section, selecting Metro > Delhi > Book QR Ticket, entering start and end stations, and paying using any preferred method. The QR ticket will appear in the Uber app and can be scanned at the metro gate.
In addition to PhonePe and Uber, the Delhi Metro Sarthi app and the ixigo app can also be used to book QR-based tickets online for the Delhi Metro. The Chartr app is approved for buying contactless e-tickets for both buses and metro in New Delhi, supporting QR code scanning and ticket purchase.
To book a Delhi Metro ticket via WhatsApp, commuters can save DMRC's official WhatsApp number, send a "Hi" to start, select language, tap "Buy Ticket", enter departure and destination stations, choose the number of tickets/passengers, confirm details, pay via the link provided, and receive the QR code instantly.
Moreover, PhonePe users can recharge Metro Smart Cards through the app by entering the card number and the recharge amount. This feature provides added convenience for regular commuters.
With these changes, the Delhi Metro aims to offer a seamless and hassle-free commuting experience for its passengers, making it easier than ever to travel within the city.
