Born in Casale, the repurposed factory now serving as a hostel, Gabanon was brought into a reality, following the dream of his grandfather.
=================================================================================
In the heart of Italy's Monferrato region, a new hostel has recently opened its doors, attracting tourists from near and far. The Gabanon Hostel, located in the former Cementi Alta Italia area, is the brainchild of the Buzzi family, who have returned to their hometown to breathe new life into this historic space.
The hostel is managed by the Buzzi family, with Laura Buzzi, granddaughter of Sandro Buzzi, leading the project alongside her sisters Margherita and Luisa. Sandro had initially conceived the idea of a hostel in the area but never saw it come to fruition. Now, under the care of the Buzzi sisters, the hostel has become a reality.
Margherita, a designer and interior curator, has overseen the hostel's furniture design, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. Original lamps are featured throughout the hostel, adding a touch of nostalgia and charm. The hostel offers a variety of accommodations, including spacious dormitories and double and triple rooms, each equipped with custom-built bunk beds.
The Gabanon Hostel is particularly appealing to cycling enthusiasts, as it is part of the official 'bike hostel' network. Tomasz Krezel, Luisa's husband, serves as a cycling tour guide at the hostel, leading tours through the picturesque Monferrato countryside. A bike workshop is also available for storing and repairing guests' bicycles.
To cater to the needs of its guests, the hostel offers a special breakfast package and plans to add bar and restaurant services in the future. For those seeking a more active experience, the hostel includes padel courts, offering lessons with Gianluca Balin, a professional padel instructor.
The hostel aims to attract tourists from the Netherlands and Scandinavia, capitalising on the growing interest in cycling tourism. The location of the hostel, nestled in the former Cementi Alta Italia area, serves as a reminder of the region's past industrial era, with red clinker tiles used throughout the hostel to evoke this history.
As the Wine Festival approaches, the Gabanon Hostel is almost sold out for the second weekend from September 26 to 28. With its unique blend of history, hospitality, and active experiences, the Gabanon Hostel is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for tourists seeking an authentic Italian experience.
