Boston's Children's Hospital and the Nicholas Zoe Foundation Unite to Revolutionize Pediatric Cancer Treatment

In a heartfelt initiative that spans continents, the Nicholas Zoe Foundation, established in 2023 by Alexia Potamitou, is partnering with Boston Children's Hospital, the top pediatric hospital in the United States and a leading centre for pediatric research worldwide. This joint mission, titled "A Golden Effort - From Cyprus to Boston," aims to bring knowledge, treatment, and a new outlook on life to children battling cancer.

The event, held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, will take place on September 16, 2025, at 19:00 at the Old Nicosia Town Hall. The evening promises to be a significant one, as leading scientists from Boston Children's Hospital will present the progress of a research project on the development of a non-invasive method for early diagnosis of Ewing Sarcoma through liquid biopsy.

The Nicholas Zoe Foundation was created in memory of Alexia's son, Nikola Artemiou, who passed away from Ewing Sarcoma at the age of nine. Nikola was a bright and kind child, known for his joy and belief in life. This tragic loss inspired Alexia to establish the Foundation, with a mission to provide access to specialized treatments, support, and hope for children battling cancer.

The Foundation funds innovative research programs focused on the early diagnosis and effective treatment of childhood cancer. In addition to the scientific aspects, the event will also include a charity art auction of works by Cypriot artists, with all proceeds going toward supporting the Foundation's mission. The event is inspired by "Gold September," the international awareness month for childhood cancer.

The Nicholas Zoe Foundation supports families facing the disease and raises awareness through educational campaigns, international collaborations, and philanthropic initiatives. The goal of the initiative is to bring about a change, offering more effective treatments for children battling cancer and strengthening pediatric research.

This initiative is a deeply human and scientific effort that begins in Cyprus and reaches all the way to Boston. It is a testament to the power of hope, resilience, and the collective will to make a difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.
