BPOL-H: Warrant issued, Federal Police at Hannover Airport execute arrest and driver's license revocation
A 68-year-old man was arrested at Hannover Airport on March 6 during border control from Izmir. The arrest was due to an unpaid fine of 30 daily rates of 50 euros each from a conviction for leaving the scene of an accident.
The man, who had an outstanding balance of 15 daily rates and costs totalling 208 euros, was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Hannover with an arrest warrant. Upon his arrest, the man only had dollars with him, which required exchanging at the bank.
After exchanging the dollars, the man was able to pay the missing 1,708 euros to the officers on the spot. With the payment settled, the man was able to continue his journey home using public transport after all police measures were completed.
It is worth noting that the man's driver's license has been confiscated by the Federal Police due to non-compliance with a driving ban from the same verdict.
