Breaking News: Countrywide Update on Matters of National Importance

Powerball Jackpot Soars to Over $1 Billion

The Powerball lottery game, played across 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, has reached an estimated jackpot of over $1 billion for the draw on Monday, September 14. This monumental prize, if won, would be one of the largest in the game's history.

The Powerball numbers for the draw on Saturday, September 12, were 3, 18, 22, 27, and 33, with the Powerball being 17. The jackpot has not been won for over two months, since May 31.

The Powerball jackpot, if won, can be received as a series of payments over 30 years or as a lump sum. The lump sum estimate for the jackpot is $498.4 million before taxes. Payments for the jackpot would be spread over 30 years, or a winner could choose an immediate lump sum of an estimated $498.4 million.

The drawings for Powerball take place each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights. The winning numbers are drawn at the Florida Lottery's Tallahassee studio. Powerball is not played in all U.S. states. Specifically, it is not played in Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.

The odds of matching all six Powerball numbers are 1 in 292.2 million. Despite these long odds, the excitement for the upcoming draw is palpable. The likelihood of getting struck by lightning is greater than the odds of winning the Powerball, adding an extra dose of intrigue to the game.

The last Powerball drawing on Monday, September 8, 2025, did not have a jackpot winner; thus, no person won the fourth-largest prize in the game's history on that date. The previous jackpot winners from the Saturday, September 6, 2025 drawing were from Missouri and Texas.

As the jackpot continues to grow, more and more people are buying tickets in the hopes of becoming the next Powerball millionaire. With the potential to win over $1 billion, the anticipation for the draw on Monday is at an all-time high.
