Bridge unveiling: secondary bridge in Auheimer now accessible
The city of Hanau is set to reopen the Auheimer Bridge for pedestrian and bicycle traffic on September 25, following a long period of construction. City Councilor Isabelle Hemsley expressed her pleasure at the upcoming reopening, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the needs of the people of Hanau in the project.
The new bridge, which will connect the districts of Klein-Auheim and Großauheim, is 2.5 meters wide and suitable for bicycle traffic. It is designed to not damage the protected steel structure and features a walking path equipped with non-slip Bauxite inserts for safety.
The demolition of the concrete slabs was completed in mid-July, allowing for the resumption of shipping. The new wooden bridge assembly began at the end of July in Obertshausen. However, no further details about the timeline for the new construction of the Auheimer Bridge were provided in the statement.
The total construction costs of the project amount to around two million euros, but no update on the budget for the new construction was provided. City Councilor Hemsley also confirmed that the bridge is being constructed to accommodate emergency services and is still planned, despite it taking several years.
