British filmmaker Dexter Fletcher takes on the task of remaking the classic British heist movie 'The League of Gentlemen' for Paramount Pictures.

In a thrilling turn of events, Dexter Fletcher, known for his work on films such as Eddie the Eagle, Rocketman, and Bohemian Rhapsody, has been attached to direct the reimagining of the 1960 British heist movie, The League of Gentlemen. The project, now under Paramount Pictures, was initially in development at Skydance but has moved due to a merger.

The original 1960 movie, featuring Jack Hawkins and Richard Attenborough, was an adaptation of a 1958 novel by John Boland. This modern-day remake promises to bring a fresh take on the classic tale.

Bek Smith, who has worked on various feature film projects, including adaptations of Mark Millar's comic book Reborn for Netflix and the DC/Vertigo title 100 Bullets for New Line, has written the script for the new League of Gentlemen.

Emma Forbes, daughter of the original movie's screenwriter, Bryan Forbes, is an executive producer for the film. Michael Attenborough, Richard Attenborough's son, is also an executive producer. Dalia Ibelhauptaitė rounds off the executive producer team.

Dexter Fletcher has been involved in the project since early 2024, and no production details have been provided as yet. The upcoming feature project does not have a release date announced.

Fletcher's last directorial venture was the big-budget Apple TV/Skydance movie Ghosted, which starred Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Bek Smith is represented by Verve, Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels, while Dexter Fletcher is represented by CAA and Sloan Offer.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new project!
