In the early hours of August 31, 2020, a dramatic incident unfolded in the city of Hagen, Germany. A vigilant witness, aged 39, spotted two suspected car thieves tampering with a Mercedes Vito, a vehicle for sale at a used car dealership on Körnerstraße.

The incident took place around 2:20 AM. The witness was in a café on the opposite side of the street when he saw the suspects enter the vehicle. Alerted by the unusual activity, he ran across the street to confront the suspected perpetrators.

His actions did not go unnoticed. A passing police patrol, alerted by the witness's behaviour, quickly responded to the scene. The two suspects, brothers aged 17 and 18 who reside in Hagen, were temporarily detained by the police.

The Mercedes Vito, the focus of the suspicious activity, was secured for evidence collection. The investigators examining the attempted robbery are from the local police department's robbery division.

Initially, the suspects claimed they did not intend to steal the vehicle but wanted to record video footage of the interior. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident suggest otherwise. The police have initiated an investigation into the attempted motor vehicle theft.

The local community is commending the witness for his quick thinking and bravery. His actions undoubtedly prevented a potential crime and helped the police in their investigation.
