Building Fire and Road Accident - Firefighters in Hattingen respond twice to emergency incidents
In an eventful Tuesday evening, the fire and rescue services in Hattingen were kept busy with two separate incidents.
The first incident occurred at around 6:45 PM on Felderbachstraße in Elfringhausen, involving a collision between a car and a tractor. The collision resulted in spilled hazardous materials that needed to be absorbed with a special binding agent. Fortunately, the injured parties were outside the vehicles and only had light injuries. The Elfringhausen fire station's crew took care of the two drivers, and no other persons were involved.
Meanwhile, a smoke alarm had gone off in an apartment of a multi-family house on Blankensteiner Straße, and smoke was visible, suggesting a potential fire incident in the apartment. The fire department gained access to the smoky apartment and quickly extinguished the fire near the sofa. For further safety measures, the apartment and the staircase were ventilated using a high-performance fan, and in front of the building, the turntable ladder was brought into position as a precaution. One resident was brought out via the staircase and handed over to the rescue service, while the second person in the apartment was also safely extracted by the fire department and cared for by the rescue service.
