Building fire and vehicle collision - Firefighters in Hattingen called to duty twice

In the heart of Hattingen, two separate incidents occurred on Tuesday, causing a swift response from local emergency services.

At around 6:45 PM, a collision took place between a car and a tractor on Felderbachstraße in Elfringhausen. Fortunately, the injured parties were already outside their vehicles and were only slightly injured. The scene was then handed over to the police, and fire protection was ensured at the location, with the vehicle batteries being disconnected.

Meanwhile, a smoke alarm went off in an apartment of a multi-family building on Blankensteiner Straße. With a fire event in the apartment assumed, the Hattingen Fire Department and the Elfringhausen fire crew sprang into action. Upon arrival, they quickly extinguished the fire in the apartment's sofa area and took care of the two residents found inside. One resident was removed from the apartment through the staircase and handed over to the rescue service.

Spilled hazardous materials had to be absorbed with a special binding agent, and other deployment forces positioned the turntable ladder as a precaution in front of the building. Smoke alarms have once again proven to be life-savers, as they alerted the emergency services in time to prevent further damage.
