Bulls regain strength following 246-day storm encounter.
In the highly-anticipated match of the current Austrian league season, Sturm Graz and Salzburg are set to lock horns on Sunday. This fixture, scheduled for 2:30 PM, promises to be a thrilling encounter, with approximately 17,000 fans expected to fill the stadium.
Salzburg, currently unbeaten in the league's spring phase, has won two games in the championship group. Their lineup includes Blaswich, Morgalla, Gadou, S. Baidoo, Terzic, Capaldo, Bidstrup, Nene, Yeo, Daghim, and Vertessen. On the other hand, Sturm Graz, who lost to Salzburg earlier in the season with a score of 1:3, will field a team consisting of Scherpen, Johnston, Geyrhofer, Wüthrich, Lavalee, Gorenc Stankovic, Horvat, Kiteishvili, Yalcouye, Le. Grgic, and Boving.
However, Sturm faces a significant challenge due to the recent absence of striker Seedy Jatta and the injury of Sota Kitano, who is expected to be out for an indefinite period due to a severe contusion and a crush wound on his right ankle sustained from a brutal foul during the match against GAK.
In the absence of key players such as Oscar Gloukh, Mamady Diambou, Takumu Kawamura, Maurits Kjaergaard, Karim Konate, and Alexander Schlager, Sturm coach Säumel has stated that they have young players ready to step up in training.
Salzburg coach Thomas Letsch, dealing with multiple injuries in midfield and attack, has emphasized that they have taken a step forward and learned their lessons since their 3:1 loss to Sturm Graz. Letsch's team is two points behind the leader before the Sunday duel against Sturm Graz.
The upcoming game against Sturm Graz prepares Sturm for a double-header against Austria Wien on April 23rd (away) and 27th (home). Sturm's striker, William Boving, considers every game in the championship group as a final.
Leon Grgic, a four-time scorer of the season for Sturm, may replace Seedy Jatta in the lineup. Salzburg, who started the second phase of the competition with a 2:0 win at Rapid and a 2:1 win against BW Linz, scored three goals in the second half of the earlier match against Sturm Graz, with Yorbe Vertessen, Dorgeles Nene, and Karim Onisiwo getting the goals.
Jon Gorenc-Stankovic scored the early goal for Sturm Graz in the earlier match. A win for Sturm could put five points between them and Salzburg, a significant advantage in the tight race for the top spots. This match promises to be a courageous performance from Sturm, as they aim to shake up the league standings. The match will be live on Sky.
