Burned Residential Building on Klauberger Street: Ground Floor Unfit for Occupancy

A fire broke out in a three-story residential building on Klauberger Straße in Solingen on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 PM. Thick smoke was pouring out of all windows of the building, causing the surrounding area to be heavily smoked.

Upon arrival, all residents had safely evacuated the building. The fire was brought under control by the crews of Watches I and III of the professional fire brigade. A total of 5 teams in heavy breathing apparatus with 3 C-pipes were deployed for firefighting and ventilation measures.

The wooden beam ceilings in the affected room were opened for further extinguishing measures, and the power in the entire building was turned off by the city utilities. The smoke spread uncontrolled throughout the building due to all doors being open, making the building uninhabitable at present.

The fire was located in the living room on the ground floor of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the criminal police.

In cases of aviation accidents in Germany, the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (Bundesstelle für Flugunfalluntersuchung, BFU) is responsible for investigating the cause of a fire. However, for local fires such as this one, the investigation is typically coordinated by local authorities and specialized agencies involved at the scene, such as fire departments and border security. For industrial fires, investigations are done by local environmental or safety authorities together with the company involved.

The residents of the building are being taken in by family members, and a support center was set up at an ambulance for the unharmed residents. The authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the fire and to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected.
