Suspects Busted in Kyiv's Hidden Gambling Den
On the last day of April, authorities in Kyiv busted an illicit casino hidden on the ninth floor of a business center. Simultaneously, a call center operating on the fourth floor was allegedly discovered. Police performed raids on the identified premises and suspects' residences.
At the gambling establishment, authorities confiscated poker equipment, computer equipment, financial records, video footage, and envelopes filled with cash for players' winnings. In one suspect's home, nearly $135,000 and approximately €5,000 were seized. The man has no declared income and couldn't explain the source of this cash. The business center's management received notice of suspicion, being accused of organizing the illegal casino.
As for the call center, it's suspected that the employees were swindling funds from Ukrainians, Germans, and Czechs. Victims were lured with a cryptocurrency trading program that claimed to generate a 5% daily profit. But after victims deposited their money, their contact information was blocked.
Players and Call Center Staff Identified
According to law enforcement sources cited by "Babel," the BEC located at Degtyarivska, 33V, is at the center of the investigation, with over 10 searches conducted at different addresses. One such location was the central office of the suspected individual, Vyacheslav Lysenko, located on Buzhenina Lane, 23, where another individual, Mikhail Slipuha, also serves as a director.
Reports suggest that Lysenko is also involved in the case, with the operation allegedly running for 8 months.
CEO Club's Perspective
Later, the situation was addressed by the founder and president of CEO Club, Sergei Gaidaiychuk.
After the end of the business check moratorium, representatives from the National Police arrived at CEO Club's premises on Buzhenina Lane, 23, with a search warrant. The facility was closed, but a club representative, accompanied by a lawyer, provided access for inspection. The detectives found and seized nothing.
The Unfounded Raid
Gaidaichuk believes that the raid on CEO Club was conducted to link the search to other investigative actions in specific cases and sully the club's reputation by disseminating operational information alongside false narratives through anonymous Telegram channels. He stressed that CEO Club is a strong advocate for the rule of law, against illegal business pressure, against corruption, and for the reform of the National Police.
He also defended Vyacheslav Lysenko. "Lysenko is one of many co-owners of the club, a member for many years. He is an entrepreneur who has actively supported the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2014, pays millions in taxes and donations, and consistently advocates for improving the business climate in Ukraine. We are closely monitoring the legality of the case, and if any illegal actions occur, the club will defend Lysenko, as it would any member," - stated the businessman.
