Business proprietor in Oakland challenges individuals disposing waste on bustling highway
In the heart of Oakland, California, an unexpected scene unfolded on Friday afternoon, just after 1 p.m., near the corner of Howard Street and Alameda Avenue. A local business owner, Kevin Kim, found himself in an unusual situation when he encountered three men illegally dumping trash on a busy street, directly in front of the High Street Car Wash and Oil Change business and across from the High Street Home Depot.
Kim, who owns a nearby business, was quick to act. He recorded the incident on his cellphone, capturing the men's actions and his own confrontation with them. In the video, which has since garnered nearly 400,000 views on TikTok as of Sunday afternoon, Kim can be heard saying, "You guys can't illegal dump, hell no."
The video shows Kim approaching the men, who ignored passing motorists who honked and yelled at them to stop. Despite Kim's intervention, the men continued their illegal activity, eventually getting back into a U-Haul truck and driving off.
As of now, there is no publicly available information about the identities of the three men involved in the incident. The Oakland Police Department has not released any statements regarding the incident or any ongoing investigations.
Kim's actions have been praised by many in the community, who are hopeful that this incident will bring attention to the issue of illegal dumping in Oakland and inspire others to take action against such activities. The video serves as a stark reminder of the need for community vigilance and the importance of reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.
