Businessmen in Yakutsk back ice fishing event in Pokrovsk
The annual ice fishing and active recreation festival, Lena-Fest, took place recently in the picturesque locality of Zhomkonka, Hangalassky district. This year's event was marked by the remembrance of the renowned Pokrovsky fisherman, Evgeny Grebnev.
The festival attracted teams from various regions, including Ust-Maysky, Churapchinsky, Megino-Kangalassky uluses, Yakutsk (including Markhi), and the host ulus, Hangalas. The Hangalas ulus was represented by the settlements of Bulgunnyakhtakh, Kachikattsy, Oi, Ulah-An, Bestyakh, Mokhsogollokh, and Pokrovsk itself.
In the team competition, the "Partisans" team from Yakutsk emerged victorious with a total catch of 5.9 kg. The creative team "Avia" (Efimov Egor, Lotov Aisen, Shadrin Artem, Pokrovsk city) won the creative team competition. Team "Buit" (Pokrovsk) followed closely behind with a total catch of 2.8 kg. Team "Taymen" from Mokhsogollokh village claimed third place with a total catch of 2.2 kg.
Individual competitions were intense, with Nikita Petrov (Oy) taking the top spot with a catch of 1.6 kg. Mais Oganesyan (Pokrovsk) won the big fish category with a pike weighing 1.8 kg, while Stepan Popov (s. Maiya, Megino-Kangalassky District) and Semen Solomonov Semenovich (Bulgunnyakh) claimed the second and third spots with catches of 1.2 kg and 1.5 kg respectively.
The family of Yevgeny Grebnev expressed gratitude to numerous organisations for their help in organising and developing the festival. These include AO "Polymetal UK", GK "Ventur", Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly "Il Tumen" Afanasiy Vladimirov, "Serebryany Ruchey" store, the rayon council of deputies of the Hangalas ulus, and the Yakutsk branch of the "OPORA RUSSIA" small business organization and LLC "Tou5us-tur" (Ariñosov A.S. Elanka).
The organisers also provided prizes for the most efficient ice drillers. Konstantin Ishchenko (Pokrovsk) and Maxim Argunov (Pokrovsk) were noted for their speed and precision. Dygyn Kondakov (Ulah-An) also received recognition for his drilling skills.
In the women's fishing competition, Anna Germes, Sarga Alexeeva, and Zhanna Popova emerged victorious. The fishing family prize went to the "Rybanuty" team (Sergey Maksimov and Olga Maksimova, Pokrovsk). The youngest fisherman, Timofeev Vyacheslav, a 16-year-old from Pokrovsk, won the young fisherman category.
Participants were treated to free porridge, tea, and Mohsogolloh bread throughout the festival. Ayal Nikolaev's 32 cm grayling won the valuable fish category (Kachikatzy). Svetlana and Yevgeny Kutuzovs won the active family prize from GUP "JHK Hangalassky District".
The festival concluded with a sense of camaraderie and excitement, as anglers returned to their homes with stories of their catches and experiences. Lena-Fest once again proved to be a successful gathering for ice fishing enthusiasts and a celebration of the rich fishing traditions in the region.
